What is the difference between Information Technology and Information Engineering?

I want to apply for a major university. In the list of programs they offer, I have seen engineering information only. I want to know if it is the same as information and telecommunications technology. Please i want to know the issues in both large and include the type of job or career they do. Thank you.

  1. Paul says:

    No! absolutely not!

Information technology would train you to be a proficient secretary, PA or librarian ( it encompasses learning to write essays, learning how to use Microsoft word and excel etc, and learning about the power of information ) . Information engineering is more like communications engineering. You would learn how to become a technician for a telecommunications company or the likes. you learn about transmitters and transistors, ( it would encompass a broad range of things from physics, and engineering to hands on mechanical training. )
